What To Do

Playa San Miguel

For travelers who want to experience not only the promoted hot spots of Costa Rica, Playa San Miguel is the finest remote beach to see. You may think that any beach is like any other beach, but anyone who has seen Playa San Miguel understands that this is simply not the case. It stretches for approximately 9 kilometers along the Pacific Ocean, and its diversity offers something for every type of traveler looking for almost any sort of adventure.
Playa San Miguel is safe to swim at low tide for most ages and ability levels. If surfing is your thing, all you’ll need to do is take a walk down the beach at high or towards high tide and you’ll find good uncrowded waves.

The Scarlet and Great Green Macaws, and the Yellow-napped Amazon parrot are some of the most recognizable parrot species in the world, they are renowned for their beauty, intelligence and charisma. However, because of recent and rapid declines in their numbers, they are in desperate need of your help. By protecting these birds and their habitat, together we can support biodiversity conservation in one of the worlds most biologically important areas.

Playa Corozalito

Playa Corozalito is am 800 m long, sandy beach protected by rocky outcrops on each end. Mangroves and an estuary occupy the beach’s southern point, providing an ideal habitat for migratory birds, (such as the critically endangered Jabiru) and small vertebrates typical of the Guanacaste region (coyotes, coatis, raccoons, skunks, anteaters, etc).
Several times a year Corozalito has a massive nesting event of Olive Ridley turtles over a couple of nights that has the characteristics of extremely rare “arribadas,” a synchronized nesting phenomenon.
